Lo-fi, indie rock (US)
Dump is the solo project of James McNew, the bassist of Yo La Tengo. Although Mcnew technically started this project in 1991, a year before he joined Yo La Tengo, he didn’t release anything under the name Dump for over two years. His solo work is characterized by charmingly personal, often lo-fi, songs and his gentle voice. He recorded everything at home using just four tracks, and has allegedly forsaken his solo project around 2008 to focus on Yo La Tengo. That’s why we’re extra thrilled to have McNew play as Dump on our festival once more.
